Love to see and read about it all. When I was growing up I was a member of the Dragmasters Car Club and we had our own turf. All the various clubs in town would stick to their own. We would race each other and steal each others girls but we did not hang together. Those days are gone, we're all older now and vintage car owners all like to get together and talk about the good ole days. I think is it awesome now that no matter what old ride you have you can be a member of the days gone by club. We talk about the race we almost won or the car we had that we should never have sold. Love to see it kept open to everyone and read all the stories about yesterday and today. I think it keeps us all young at heart. Just my 2 cents. Paul

Oh do I have stories. Back in the summer of 69 right after I got my first "new" car, a 6 month old 68 Chevelle SS396, slightly used, but hey it was 69 and I had a 68. New to me, Mike had his 69 Elcamino SS396, all set up for racin. Quite often, while driving my Chevelle, guys used to rag me about driving my boyfriend's car. Enter the opportunity for Mike and I to make some "mad" money. Mike was working 2nd shift that summer, I was working for an Optical shop, so there were many work nights that I would take a couple of laps down on Douglas, before I went home, just to see who was around. On this paticular night, a guy in a 66 GTO was all but calling me a liar when I told him that the Chevelle was indeed mine, not appreciaing his attitude, I asked him if he thought his bodunk GTO was fast enough to beat my boyfriends "pick-up". The guy that was riding shotgun with him all the sudden realized the "pick-up" I was talking about, he turns to this clown, trying to warn him, and Mr. Know it all said "shut up, I know what I am doing". The guy riding shotgun threw his hands up looked over at me and winked, sitting back about to enjoy the happenings of this paticular night. I told the smart alec where to meet us at 12:30, and be sure to bring along twenty bucks, he was going to need it if he intended to blow the doors off anything, the guy thought he was in for a easy twenty bucks. El Kabong was a 375 hose 396, bored 30 over, with a Sig Erson Cam, a Muncie four speed and headers. I got out there first, then along comes our unsuspecting clown. He is sneering demanding to know where this pick-up was. Mike had gone around the corner and opened his headers when they were opened, he started up the truck. I said "Gee I think that is him coming now". The look on this clown's face was priceless, When El Kabong came around the corner, he glares at me and says "You SAID he had a Pick-up", I glared right back and said "YOU all but called me a liar! Lets see now it has a bed, like a pick up, it has a cab like a pick-up, looks like a pick-up to me, now do you want to actually race your bodunk GTO, or do I get that twenty bucks now?". The guy riding shot gun totally lost it when I turned around looking at the El Camino pointing out the items that made it a pick-up, Saying "She's got ya there". Mr Know it all left in a big huff leaving all three of us standing along side the road that night enjoying a really good laugh. Mike had to take the guys buddy home.
